Kaipo joins the HMSA Foundation team after serving four years as the Executive Director of the Kualoa-Heʻeia Ecumenical Youth (KEY) Project located in Waiheʻe, Oʻahu, where he grew up. In that role, he led a beloved community center for everyone from keiki to kupuna to gather for programs and services. Kaipo began his career at the Academy of the Pacific where he served as the Disciplinarian for 10 years counseling students and supporting teachers to provide the most positive classroom environment. In 2012, he earned his Master’s degree from the Myron B. Thompson School of Social Work at the University of Hawaiʻi and went on to become the Program Officer at the Consuelo Foundation in their Honolulu office. At Consuelo, Kaipo supported ‘āina based programs that were focused on family well-being and community health.
